Fried Chicken and Turnip Greens

One of my favorite meals is home fried chicken and fresh turnip greens. Then you add a hot pan of southern cornbread and you can’t find a better meal. Of course you can add anything from a fresh ripe tomato to a complete fresh made salad. You don’t have to have a lot of extra things with this the chicken and turnip greens are really enough by their self. Oh the only other things you need to make the meal complete is hot pepper sauce and a slice of onion.

 

Another great meal is fresh garden peas and boiled okra. Cook the peas just before they get done add the okra on top do not stir after adding the okra. If you can get it the very small okra is the best. These are also great with a good pan of cornbread and a fresh slice of onion. Then add you a good cold glass of tea and you can’t beat that. Enjoy with your family.

 

I really enjoy a good home cooked meal especially when it is something picked fresh from the garden. Butter beans are another great dish that can be cooked and added with any of the items above. Always have a good cold glass of iced tea to drink with your meal. So take a look try some good home cooked meals you and your family will enjoy these together. There are so many families that don’t sit down and enjoy a meal together anymore. Every family needs some time together and meal time is a great time for it.
