Healthy Snacks

Making snacks with your children can be both fun and time consuming. It can also be a way to teach your child some very important things about helping with foods. Make sure that they know to wash their hands and clean all areas where they will be working. It is always a good idea to try to keep ingredients on hand for their favorite snacks. Fruits are a great easy to work with and also a healthy snack. There are several different ways to prepare fruits that a child can help with. One very good way to prepare bananas, pineapples, melon, etc. is to cut it into small pieces and insert a toothpick into it then dip the pieces into yogurt. This makes a tasty and healthy snack.

 

Another good easy to prepare snack is to make homemade ice cream sandwiches. To make these take your favorite ice cream and put in between graham crackers. If you want to be creative you can add more than one flavor in each one.  You can let young children help with this since there are no knives or sharp objects being used.

 

Peanut Butter makes a great healthy and easy to prepare snack to. It can be spread on crackers with a small amount of Jelly with it or just the peanut butter. Most all children love this.

 

Making homemade snacks with your children gives them a sense if independence and feeling older at the same time. It also gives you more valuable time with your child.
