All our lives our parents have told us eat your vegetables, as we were growing up we thought I don’t like them. As we get older and have children of our own we do the same thing to them. Vegetables are one of the healthiest things we can eat. They just need to be cooked in a healthy way. Some may think I can’t cook healthy and it still be tasty. This is not true. Fixing salads is a great way to eat a healthy meal, if done at home you can add grilled meat, instead of fried. You can also add low fat cheese, and your choice of dressing. Salads go great with any meal and are a healthy dish to eat. Use a variety of greens in your salad young spinach, mustard greens, and cabbage gives your salad more color and texture and taste. During the summer fresh vegetables are easy to find at your local farmers market to supermarket. If you have the room to raise your own this is even better. There is nothing like fresh vegetables from the garden. Tomatoes are wonderful and can be used in many recipes are eaten raw straight from the vine. Peppers give many of your recipes a great flavor. If you don’t like hot peppers only use the sweet ones they are very flavorful. |
