It is a task everyday to find a new recipe that can be used for diabetics. There are too many recipes that use sugar even if it is just a small amount that can be very bad for someone who is trying to control their sugar levels. Salads made at home are a great idea when eating out you never know what kind of additives have been added that could cause a rise in sugar levels. It is important for a diabetic to know what they are eating at all times. If diabetes gets out of control it can cause more health problems like stroke or even a coma. This is why a diabetic needs to be very careful about what they eat. My husband is a diabetic that is why I know that a diabetic’s sugar level can rise or drop very fast if they don’t watch everything that they eat. Grilled or baked meats are always better for them than fried. For one thing most of the time when it is fried there has been a batter added and they have to have very little bread content. The reason for this is that breads turn into sugar, causing sugar levels to get to high. Vegetables lightly seasoned are a very good dish like greens, green beans, cabbage, broccoli, etc. young ones steamed are delicious. I have learned to like most foods cooked for a diabetic since there are only the two of us to cook for and I’m not cooking to different ways. It is a great way to follow a good eating habit and eat healthy. |
