Getting in the kitchen with your grandchildren can be so much fun. They enjoy being with the grandparents and helping them. It does not matter what you are cooking they want to help. I have a four year old who is just fascinated with the process of making homemade biscuits. His mother was brought up making them but now never does. The children love them and I love to make them for them.

I don’t know what it is about the younger generation but most do not want to cook and bake. If they do they don’t want the children in the kitchen with them. As my children were growing up I taught all of them to cook. Boys as well as the girl now it is a good thing I did since the boy’s wives don’t like to cook. The grandchildren all love it when their dad does the cooking.  

Baking chocolate chip cookies is one of my grandchildren’s favorite things to help with. I think it is because they want the bowl to clean when we are done. We have lots of laughs and fun while in the kitchen I tell them about how their mother or father used to help do the same when they were children. They think that is funny as they grow up I hope they will do the same for their children. To look at a child with a smile on their face is one of the most rewarding things for me. I enjoy seeing a child enjoy their self it does not matter who the child is.
